Keeping Your Piece Wild
Simple care for living botanical art.
Staghorn Ferns
- Prefer bright, indirect light.
- Avoid harsh prolonged direct sunlight.
- Allow the plant to begin drying between waterings.
- Mounted plants may need to be soaked or thoroughly watered depending on their mounting method.
- Good airflow is beneficial.
- Avoid keeping the root area constantly saturated.
Hoya / Wax Plants
- Bright indirect light is ideal.
- Allow the growing medium to partially dry between waterings.
- Avoid leaving roots constantly wet.
- Hoya generally prefer good drainage and airflow.
Pothos
- Bright indirect light is ideal, although pothos can tolerate lower-light conditions.
- Allow the growing medium to partially dry before watering again.
- Avoid consistently waterlogged conditions.
- Trim vines when needed to maintain the desired shape.
Succulents
- Provide plenty of bright light.
- Water thoroughly but infrequently.
- Allow the growing medium to dry between waterings.
- Avoid excessive moisture.
- Rotate tabletop pieces occasionally for more even growth when appropriate.
Ferns
- Many ferns appreciate consistent but not waterlogged moisture.
- Provide bright, indirect or filtered light.
- Protect from harsh direct sunlight.
- Humidity can help many fern varieties thrive.
Terrariums
- Place in bright, indirect light.
- Never place a glass terrarium in intense direct sunlight where heat can build up.
- Water conservatively.
- Monitor condensation and moisture levels.
- Trim plants as needed to maintain the arrangement.
